WHITE NIGHTS 2025

CLASSIC CAR TOURING RALLY

June 26th to July 14th, 2025

9

Scandinavia is often called the Land of the Midnight Sun, and with good reason. During the height of summer, the sun sits low in the sky, never quite dropping below the horizon.  It’s an otherworldly experience that everyone should enjoy at least once in a lifetime. Locally these days are referred to as the ‘white nights’.

Taking our cue from the locals Bespoke Rallies’ White Nights Rally is a unique Nordic adventure on which we will chase the midnight sun through the beautiful, majestic landscapes of Scandinavia. Over three memorable weeks we find the most iconic and unforgettable roads of Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, experiencing the height of summer from the top of the world.

Our journey will take us through the vast evergreen forests of Sweden into Lapland before heading over the border into neighbouring Finland. As we cross north into the Arctic Circle we begin a journey into Europe’s last great wilderness. The area of Finnmarksvidda, stretching across Finland and northern Norway, is a large mountain plateau that provides a home for the indigenous Sami people, nomadic reindeer herders who have roamed the far north for millennia.

Like all good white night chasers, we will make our way to Kirkenes, the most northerly port in Norway, only a few miles from the Russian border. It’s a strange quirk of geography that this Norwegian town lies further to the east than both Istanbul and St Petersburg.

In the town’s historic harbour we board the luxurious Hurtigruten cruise liner MS Nordnorge before setting sail around the coastline of the North Cape – Nordkapp – and down the west coast of Norway. This six-day long cruise through the clear waters of the Arctic Ocean provides an experience unlike that of any other classic rally, taking in Fjords, glaciers and spellbinding sights. Disembarking for the last time in Floro we drive inland to Oslo over the magnificent mountains of southern Norway.

Day 1 Arrive Copenhagen

Day 2 Rest day in Copenhagen

Our journey begins in the historic town of Copenhagen, Denmark’s most famous city which is home to the quirky Tivoli Gardens. Originally a Viking fishing village it matured to a city in the 10th century but didn’t become the capital of Denmark until the 15th century. It is now Scandinavia’s largest city and a fitting place to start our journey of exploration.

Hotel: Bryggen Guldsmeden

Day 3 Copenhagen to Jönköping

Setting off under the starter’s flag we head for the famous Øresund crossing, its 2.5miles of tunnel giving way to a 5 mile bridge section that brings us onto the Swedish mainland. Our route takes us through the province of Småland, across a rolling plateau of woods and marshland to Jonkoping, once the centre of the Swedish timber and matchstick industry.

Day 4 Jönköping to Stockholm

Today we head towards Sweden’s famous capital city. Our route taking us alongside stunning lakes and across the densely forested ridge of Tylöskog. Stockholm dates back to 1252, when it was founded by Birger Jarl. Over the centuries, it has evolved into Sweden’s capital and a significant cultural hub in Europe. It formally became the capital of Sweden in 1634, although it had functioned as such since its founding. We have a day off here for you to explore this beautiful city.

Hotel: Hotel Skeppsholmen

Day 5 Stockholm rest day

Hotel: Hotel Skeppsholmen

Day 6 Stockholm to Mora

We now head through the province of Dalarna, an area that is known for its unique folk culture, distinct music and handicrafts. We end the day in Mora on the shores of lake Siljan. Mora is famous for its iconic Dala wooden Horses and handcrafted Mora knives.  Overnight accommodation is provided at the historic 4-star Mora Hotell and Spa, in the centre of the old town.

Hotel: Mora Hotell and Spa

Day 7 Mora to Ostersund

Today’s route takes us further northwards, through vast fairytale forests and across babbling brooks, with wildflowers and berries growing along the roadsides. We stop and recharge our batteries at Ostersund at the very heart of the country, a picture postcard Swedish town with cobbled streets and neo-gothic and neo-romantic architecture.  Our accommodation is in the modern Clarion Hotel Grand

Hotel: Clarion Hotel Grand

Day 8 Ostersund to Lycksele

From Ostersund we head into Swedish Lapland, and surely there is nowhere else in continental Europe with such vast, unspoiled landscapes. Its mountains, forests and marshes are criss-crossed by countless waterways and provide a backdrop to the annual reindeer migration – the chance of spotting one, or even an elk, are pretty high.  We will stay overnight in Lycksele, the oldest continuous settlement of Scandinavia’s indigenous nomadic Sámi people.

Hotel: Hotel Lappland

Day 9 Lycksele to Kalix

As we head deeper into Swedish Lapland, the terrain becomes increasingly dramatic and mountainous. Our destination is Kalix, where in the winter months the lake freezes and it becomes the largest and most advanced car testing facility in the world – it once featured on an episode of the British TV show Top Gear.

This will be the first night of the journey on which the sun does not set, so make sure to pack your eye-masks!

Hotel: Hotel Filipsborg Arctic Mansion

Day 10 Kalix to Levi

Today is a day of significant crossings. Setting off eastwards we pass through great swathes of pine, spruce and fir, and pass unnoticed across the critical line of latitude –  66°34′N North – that marks our entry to the Arctic circle. A few miles further on, through the rolling fells, we cross the border into Finland. In winter this part of Lapland experiences temperatures as low as -30°C but thankfully in the summer months – in part due to the constant sun – it’s normally above 15°C.

Hotel Panorama, located in one of the region’s best ski resorts, provides a bird’s eye view of the town of Levi.

Hotel: Levi Panorama Hotel

Day 11 Levi to Kirkenes

We are now deep in Finnmarksvidda the north-easternmost region in Europe. The route takes us into the quiet town of Inari, Lapland’s de facto capital and the location of the ancient Sámi holy site on the island of Ukonkivi.

Our destination is Kirkenes, the most northerly port in mainland Norway, where it remains daylight for more than two months each year.  Less than five kilometres from the Russian border, this is a place where East meets West, in culture as well as in nature and geography.

We stay overnight in the Thon Hotel, perched on the quay in central Kirkenes, with views out across the fjord.

Hotel: Thon Hotel

Day 12 – 17 Hurtigruten Cruise

For the next six days we follow the lovely crinkly edges of Norway on board the MS Nordnorge, exploring glaciers, fjords, and majestic islands – an experience unique to any classic rally. Relax into a new regime where you don’t need to pack and unpack your bags every day. We stay on board the ship at night and disembark during the day to chase the ferry down the coast, embarking again in the evening.

The cruise charts a course around the stark, barren landscape of the North Cape, before hugging the western coast and heading south. We will visit Hammerfest, the most northerly town in the world, where you see first-hand the importance of its Sami culture. Sailing past the world-famous islands of Lofoten and Vesterålen we will head on between peaks rising 1,000m out of the sea before exploring the wooden city of Trondheim. On our way to Kristiansund you will enjoy the world famous Atlantic Road, ranked by the Guardian as the world´s best road trip, spanning eight bridges and surrounded by open sea.

Day 17 Floro to Hemsedal

Disembarking from Floro we head across the mountains and extraordinary interior landscape. We find incredible passes and stunning roads on our way to Hemsedal.

Hotel: Fyri Resort

Day 18 Hemsedal to Oslo

Our last day on the road is to Oslo. Once again we take
the fantastic roads over the mountains, entering Oslo from
the north.

TESTIMONIAL

“The GP of South America was a great event and John and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. It is always good to be the first to try something that no one else has done for a long time, in this case 70 years. Your team were fantastic and that made it even more enjoyable . The roads were challenging as they should be and the scenery spectacular. The hotels were good quality and the food was very good. This is an event for anyone who wants an adventure and I would whole heartedly rec- ommend it; if you want to do something a bit different, exciting and a bit of a challenge, then the GP of South America is for you. Thanks John and team for putting together such a great event.”
